VCT Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen playoffs begin Thursday
Valorant Champions Tour 2022: Masters Copenhagen Playoffs started this Thursday. The championship concluded the group stage on Wednesday. As a result, eight teams will participate in the playoffs to win this event.
The Copenhagen Masters is the second stage of the final international Valorant LAN event. After this, the winners will join the Valorant Champions 2022 in Istanbul, Turkey, in September.
The Copenhagen Masters provides a different experience for both players and viewers. In addition to online streaming on YouTube and Twitch, the organizer lets a live audience into the arena for the finals.
It is the first time a live audience has been present in an international tournament hosted by Valorant LAN. All games in the next playoffs will be played at Forum Arena.
Playoffs schedules
The Copenhagen event runs from July 10-24, 2022, and the Upper Bracket Round 1 will be held on July 14-15.
On July 14, Paper Rex will face Guild Esports at 5 p.m. CEST / 8 a.m. PDT, and Fnatic will be up against FunPlus Phoenix at 8 p.m. CEST / 11 a.m. PDT.
Then on July 15, Leviatán will have a match against DRX at 5 p.m. CEST / 8 a.m. PDT, and XSET to face OpTic Gaming at 8 p.m. CEST / 11 a.m. PDT.
Losing teams from the four matches will join Lower Bracket Round 1 on July 16. There will be two matches to decide the winners that will continue in the Lower Bracket category. Teams who get defeated at this stage will be eliminated.
After that, the winning teams from Upper Bracket Round 1 will join Upper Bracket Round 2 on July 17. There will be two matches at 5 p.m. CEST / 8 a.m. PDT and 8 p.m. CEST / 11 a.m. PDT. The losing team will then join the Lower Bracket Round 1. Teams get to rest during the Dark Day from July 19-21.
On July 22, there will be two events, the Upper Bracket Final at 5 p.m. CEST / 8 a.m. PDT and Lower Bracket Semifinal at 8 p.m. CEST / 11 a.m. PDT. The losing team from the Upper Bracket Final will play against the winner of the Lower Bracket Semifinal in the Lower Bracket Final on July 23 at 5 p.m. CEST / 8 a.m. PDT.
On the last day, there will be a Grand Final. Winners from the Upper and Lower Bracket finals will face off at 5 p.m. CEST / 8 a.m. PDT. The result is important for their participation in the champions’ tour.
Event overview
Twelve teams participated in the game stage for a spot in the playoffs. Four top-seeded teams from EMEA, NA, LATAM, and APAC had already qualified for the playoffs, Thus, only eight remaining teams joined the group stage.
The organizer split the group stage into two, each group containing four teams. This group stage applied a single-elimination format. Thailand’s XERXIA and Brazil’s LOUD were among the eliminated teams in the group stage. Both teams went home with $10,000 and 150 VCT points each.
Meanwhile, the playoffs adopt a double-elimination format. The next games will be the best-of-three series. Then, after entering Lower Finals and Grand Finals, the system will switch to a best-of-five series.
