Favourites Advance to the WoW Arena World Championship 2018 Semifinals

World of Warcraft fans are in for a treat, as the competition dedicated to the most popular MMORPG of all time is reaching its climax. At the end of the week we will know the winners of the Arena World Championship 2018, but for now, the names of the semi finalists have been revealed. We are of course talking about the teams in the Winners’ brackets, since the ones who already lost a match are seeking redemption in the lower bracket and can still make it to the finals.

The 11th World Championship for World of Warcraft 3v3 Arenas started fast and furious and a total of 12 teams participate. The winners will be revealed at the BlizzCon on November 4 and the competition has a guaranteed prize pool of $280,000. Blizzard Entertainment has provided the money and the winners will get the lion’s share worth $120,000. The runners-up will collect $50,000 and the next two teams will receive an identical paycheck of $25,000 for their effort.

Method Black and Method Orange Sweep Opponents

These two teams didn’t have to play in the first round and they patiently waited for their opponents to qualify. Method Black took on Unitas who barely survived the first round and had no problem in sweeping their opponents. Now they are ready to lock horns with The Gosu Crew, one of the favorites to win the WoW Arena World Championship 2018. They also enjoyed a free round, but had a hard time eliminating the Pen and Paper, at the end of a five-game series.

Method Orange played in the other semifinal after also sweeping opponents in the wake of a free round. They were expected to have a much more difficult mission against Making a Movie who showed no sign of weakness in the previous series against Cohesion Between. Method Orange will be playing the semi finals against Skill Capped EU who qualified without dropping a single match in the quarterfinals. They were one of the 3 teams who swept opponents at this stage of the competition, in their case Tempo Storm.

Action Starts in the Lower Bracket

The teams who lost the first match in the series will have a hard time qualifying for the finals. They are still in the race for the podium, but they have to overcome a lot of adversity, especially those that have just suffered a sweep. The lower bracket matches will all be played on Friday, with the decisive games being scheduled for Saturday, November 3. Among the teams forced to take the long way to the top, Pen and Paper look like the most likely to make a deep run after playing some really competitive series.
