Get ready to celebrate the holiday with 343 Industries’ Halo: Infinite, with the studio’s new event, Winter Contingency.

Players have two weeks from December 21, 2021, until January 23, 2022, to get 10 winter-themed loots and rewards, which will be upgraded each day, earned by participating in the free event.

The rewards include Wild Justice (epic nameplate), Peppermint Laughter (rare armor coating), UA/TATIUS (rare left shoulder pad); UA/TATIUS (rare right shoulder pad), Peppermint Laughter (rare weapon coating for the MA40 assault rifle), Snowmageddon (epic backdrop), Navlogcom (rare nameplate), Peppermint Laughter (rare weapon coating for the Sidekick pistol), Myesel Ammo Pouch (rare utility), as well as Sunset Contessa (epic armor coating).

In addition to the aforementioned rewards, there will be rotating premium purchasable cosmetics as well, according to Halo’s official Reddit thread titled “Halo Infinite Event | Winter Contingency Megathread”. The offers include the highly demanded cat ears for the Spartan helmet.

Preview for the upcoming event and its rewards is available on Halo’s official Youtube channel.

Any multiplayer match counts

The number of rewards earned will be based on the number of days each player plays the game. So if a player only plays for four days, they will only get the first four loot items. A match counts as long as it is multiplayer, whether Arena or Big Team Battle.

The challenge is simple: players need to participate in at least one round each day for ten days out of the fourteen days. On top of that easy requirement, the first finished match each day is the Winter Contingency challenge, which will earn you a reward regardless of winning or losing.

“While the daily rewards conclude on December 30, what this means is you’ll have several extra days to catch up on any items that you may have missed!” read a statement on the Halo Waypoint’s post.

However, take note that this event will be different from the previous Fracture: Tenrai event, where players can unlock levels as fast as they can. Consider the event as an advent calendar: meaning that you will only unlock one tier per day.

This event welcomes all players, both veterans and newbies, as they all have the same chance of earning the rewards by committing their time to play the game. It is also free.

343 Industries has prepared a grace period to accommodate players who are unable to play for the coming two weeks as well. For example, if a player misses the match on one day, they will instantly receive a one-day grace period.

Halo: Infinite was recently released on December 8, 2021. It is available to play on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, as well as on Xbox Game Pass. Its free-to-play multiplayer mode has been a huge hit. It broke the record for Xbox Game Studios on Steam, and over 270,000 concurrent players have tried it, despite issues on specific aspects of the game.

The Fracture: Tenrai event will also be returning in January, and fans will be able to observe whether previously found bugs and issues persist or not.
