Dr Disrespect feels ‘no pressure’, plans for future game of Midnight Society
Dr Disrespect is not stressing about the hype and pressure surrounding his newly-released game studio, Midnight Society, who he co-founded with Robert Bowling and Quinn DelHoyo.
The pressure comes as the former twitch streamer now has a real chance of becoming the first and currently the only one to claim two titles: Game of the Year and the Streamer of the Year, at events such as the Game Awards.
“I think you guys are putting too much pressure on the two-time… There ain’t no pressure,” said Dr Disrespect
Although the Doc has claimed winning back-to-back 1993-1994 Blockbuster Video Game World Champion multiple times and explained it was merely a ruse to stay in character, many took the statement seriously and considered him to be able to take on a new two-time title easily.
Success in short time
Midnight Society gained a massive response within 48 hours of its launch. Its Twitter account has amassed 100,000 followers. Grateful for the success, Dr Disrespect posted the milestone on his Twitter account with the caption “100k @12am. This will be one hell of a journey.”
The success did not come out of nowhere. Dr Disrespect already has a massive following ever since he was actively streaming on Twitch, and now on Youtube. Aside from that, the studio is available on multiple platforms, from Twitter to Discord, and has its own website.
The Doc also has experience as a developer, as he worked on Call of Duty with Sledgehammer Games. The names of Robert Bowling and Quinn DelHoyo are also no strangers in the gaming industry, due to their involvement in creating Call of Duty, Halo, and Gears of War. Thus, many speculate the soon-to-be-announced release as a shooter.
The studio also implements community-centered development for their upcoming releases, meaning the community can give feedback on the development of the game itself.
Plans and passion
Midnight Studio’s upcoming battle royale is a token of something the Doc is “truly passionate” about, and he doesn’t want to rush the process.
He wants to enjoy the ride, and he wants to focus on the journey rather than the destination. He doesn’t intend in producing an award-winning game, rather he is “just going to have fun and do it.”
However, that doesn’t mean he is lax with the decisions in keeping the new game studio’s best interest at heart, as Dr Disrespect just announced firing two of his audio staff.
“I’m running into an issue, champs. I’ve already fired two guys. I don’t know what else to say,” wrote Dr Disrespect on Twitter.
The decision received positive feedback from the public, as fans applauded Doc’s commitment to fully focus on developing a quality game.
Moreover, the Doc recently talked to Jake Lucky, a departing Esports Talk show host. He’d like to jump into the opportunity by discussing a future possible collaboration.
“Either you can talk to all these generic wannabe streamers or WE can talk about next steps. Your call,” wrote Dr Disrespect as a response to Jack Lucky’s tweet on December 18th. Although there is still no further confirmation from the two, fans are excited about the idea.
